The Pool Is Open

Sarah and Mark are in town and we officially started summer by opening the pool!!! Gabriella LOVED it! And mommy loved it because she didn't want to go in(still too cold for my wimpy self at 85 degrees!). Sorry Mark, I'm not buying that it was really 86(which I claimed was my minimum :-) Apparently 90 is more like it!

I wasn't sure how she'd react since she hadn't been in since last Fall, but she was loving life.

As Sarah said, "Elton John, eat your heart out".

She loved tilting her head back into the waterfall and taking a "showah".

She had such a fun day and after she got up from her nap and they left, she kept saying "pool", "pool". I can see where we'll be spending lots of time this summer! I better look into those swimming lessons! Speaking of which, anybody have recommendations? At two, should she do the infant swim survival/Safe Start or something else? I really don't like the idea of every day for like 10 minutes. But, if that's the best program.......

Sheesh I envy your weather - we are unseasonably cold and hosting a big birthday bash this weekend! Outside! What was I thinking?

I've always rather enjoyed the cooler months of the year but as Mackenzie gets older I am starting to long for the warm months so she can get outside and have fun.

Elton John ain't got nottin' on your Miss G.

I signed Alexis up at the local YMCA for 6 weeks of swim lessons. Since it is her first time I am starting with the parent & child class. I figure I have a lot to learn too. Since I work FT I had to go with a weekend class. I agree with you our pool is to cold for me I like bath water temperatures.

A freind of mine has a nearly two-year old who is doing the survival swom ten-minute thingy. Seems to be working out well.

Love the pool and the family photos - and the Elton John reference!

Peace and Hugs,
Becca

Love your pool and yes, our girls are naturals and can stay in the pool all day.

Given our weather, we don't have our own pool and have been doing swimming lessons since last May. Here, our infant water readiness goes from 6 months to three years old and then they go into something called 1A here and they sit on the step and take independent lessons. We love it. Unfortunately it doesn't run in the summer here, because they have camp. She learns blowing bubbles, reach and pull, kicking, 1-2-3 jump, getting in and out of the pool, life jackets, etc. We play games and sing songs. It is once a week for 40 minutes in 8 week sessions. She loves it and is always pointing to her bathing suits and saying "bool, bool."
